The most difficult getaway I ever went on

There are certain memories that just stick with you.

Sometimes you don’t want to recall them, but it doesn’t seem like you really have a choice.

This is absolutely the case as I’ve tried to move on from my last relationship. Unfortunately, I keep running into memories that I just can’t shake. Some of them are good and some of them are bad, but it’s the funny ones that are really sticking with me. For instance, the time that my ex-boyfriend and I thought that we should go on a romantic mountain getaway by renting a cabin. It seemed like a really good idea because we both enjoy being outdoors in nature. Unfortunately, we never could have guessed that it would be such a frigidly cold experience. When we arrived at the cabin we quickly realized that there was no central heat. At first, we thought that this was quaint and a delightful part of the experience. We were going to have to feed wood into the little wood burning stove to provide heat to the cabin all night. It sounded like fun! At first. We quickly realized that it was much colder outside than we had anticipated. No matter how much would we put into the little stove, the ice cold drafts that were blowing in from every window effectively negated the heat that we were providing. It was so cold that the pipes of the cabin froze and we couldn’t actually get any drinking water. Forget about a hot shower. We eventually found some space heaters and desperately tried to add more heat into the cabin. The entire ordeal was fairly harrowing, but we both had a solid chuckle on our last day there… When we finally found the central heating thermostat.
