If you have never moved to a new place on your own before, I can tell you that it is quite an experience.
You don’t know anybody which makes you feel free and vulnerable at the same time. If anything goes wrong, you have the sense that you are all alone in figuring out your problems. Unfortunately, at the time when I had first moved here I also made the massive mistake of living in a low-quality apartment rental. This meant I was figuring out my own problems left and right. One day when my heating and cooling system broke down I was especially beside myself. I did not have any friends or neighbors to ask for an HVAC repair dealership recommendation. I didn’t really feel safe having a strange heating and cooling technician in my house with me. I was worried that they were going to do a terrible job repairing my air conditioning system before charging me an arm and a leg… Or much worse. Eventually, I gave up on my attempts to repair the HVAC system myself and called the local heating and cooling company. When the certified heating, cooling, and air quality control specialist arrived at my door I was relieved to see that he looked very normal. He chatted with me as he completed the air conditioning repair and even gave me a discount on the final bill. In the end, I was so happy with this HVAC technician performance that I asked him out to dinner. Since this event three years ago I haven’t been alone again, because I married my HVAC technician.
