When I was growing up I constantly knew that I didn’t want to toil a proper nine-to-five job.
I am not meant to be in an office or cubicle all afternoon long.
I am not the sort who wants to punch in & out of a time clock based on some arbitrary rule made 50 years ago. That’s why I decided I was going to go into trade college so I could become a professional & control my own schedule every afternoon. Well, that was a absolutely superb idea back in the afternoon… But in actuality it means that I toil longer & harder hours than I ever could have imagined. When I signed on to become a professional Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional through the local trade colleges’ heating & cooling certification program, I had no idea how demanding the job was going to be. I was right away hired straight out of college & given the freedom to toil as a heating & cooling intern with several residential Heating, Ventilation & A/C experts. The first thing they told me was buckle up for a wild ride. Apparently, the Heating, Ventilation & A/C shop makes sure that you are earning your keep by paying you based on commission. This means, for every heating & cooling service job you go to, you receive a particular percentage of the service fees & parts sales. Unfortunately, it means that you only make as much money as you can service Heating, Ventilation & A/C equipment. In order to make a livable wage, I have to constantly run from one Heating, Ventilation & A/C appointment to the next. If I waste my time chit chatting with clients or performing extra Heating, Ventilation & A/C services, I am losing money. I don’t toil a 9-5 job, instead I toil 6-6.
