Preparing for Thanksgiving

I can’t believe how late in the year it is already.

I feel like it was just January two weeks ago, and now we’re basically at the end of 2019.

I have no idea where the time went or how it was spent. I feel like I’ve been working constantly all year long, but I don’t have all that much to show for it. Now, it’s time to start thinking and planning on my goals for next year. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around all of this necessary planning. I can barely even consider the numerous activities that I need to accomplish before the Thanksgiving holiday rolls around. This year, I am hosting the big family holiday for everyone. I’m kind of excited, but I’m also extremely overwhelmed with the amount of work that needs to be done. Not only do I have to worry about the grocery shopping, the cooking, and all of the cleaning, but there are always additional tasks that get overlooked until the last minute. This year, I am not forgetting about servicing the HVAC system before anyone arrives at my home. In the past, I’ve been burned by forgetting about the heating and cooling equipment. Or, I should say, we’ve all been frozen due to my HVAC negligence. One year, my heating system completely failed as I was preparing the turkey for the big day. The kitchen was so warm, I didn’t even notice that the heating system had stopped operating. For several hours, the rest of the house got colder and colder while I happily worked away. By the time the guests arrived, the rest of the house was 60°. Everyone complained throughout the long, massive feast that I prepared. After that failed holiday, I will never forget to service the heater again.
