Radiant heated flooring can be reliable and energy efficient. There are lots of great reasons to install radiant heated flooring in your home. I contacted a local HVAC contractor when my wife and I decided to get rid of the tile in our living room. Once we were getting rid of the flooring, I knew it was a good time to look at radiant heated flooring options. I didn’t know if it would be affordable or not, but I found a contractor that was happy to come to the house to provide me with an estimate and quote for the work. There are two types of radiant floor heating. One is a hydronic system that uses a network of pipes that are usually filled with water. The water is regularly heated using a boiler. The other type of radiant floor heating is electric. Electric heated wires are placed underneath the flooring. When the thermostat is activated, the heated wires warm up the floor. Both types of systems are equally beneficial and can be used in a variety of applications. My wife and I decided to get an estimate for both types of systems. We could have replaced the heating system in our home with a boiler and we would have been able to heat the water as well, or we could simply go with electric radiant heated flooring. The contractor did not provide me with the estimates on the same day. I had to wait for an email which was sent the next day. I was waiting in anticipation, but the quotes were much higher than I was expecting and radiant heated flooring was not affordable for us.
