He was happier before he got married.

I kept looking at my son and I was worried about him.

He had only been married for nine months, and he already looked miserable.

I told my husband I knew the marriage wouldn’t work and now look at our son. He was happier before he got married. My husband rolled his eyes. He reminded the man’s wife had recently been sent overseas. She was an accomplished HVAC technician and she was working on HVAC systems to keep the troops comfortable in the harsh conditions they had over there. I didn’t want to admit that my baby was missing his wife. I wanted to think he wasn’t happy and would soon be moving back home. My husband was really angry with me. He told me to accept the fact that our son was a man and he made his own choices. Every once in a while, my son would be on the computer and I knew he was talking to Angela. Last week, he was all smiles when he got off the computer. He said Angela was coming home. The local HVAC company had already told her she could have her job back, but they had other plans. They were going to move closer to the local Air Force base where she had been offered a job as head of the base HVAC company. They needed someone who could handle any situation that was thrown at them. I felt sad because I was leaving my son, but I had to admit he was knowing his wife would soon be home.
